Serendipity sits outside the National Scottish HQ and assembles a table with some scrolls on it. She bangs a gavel to get some attention:

"I hereby call to order the first recruitment of the Scotttish Cheerleading Consortium."

"To apply for a membership in this group please show us your cutest Scottish Cheerleading outfit and a statement of why you would like to belong to the club."

Applications should look like this:

My name is Serendipity. I live in Kirkcudbright, Galloway. Currently I cheer for no one except my friend Alistair, but soon I will be cheering for JO's army.

I would like to create/belong to the group to inspire more fun and creativity in war times. There's no reason why we can't enjoy ourselves between the blood and gore. My official costume is homemade.

Brain Trust:

 Hello Brain Trustees,

Now that I've done some work on Ayr I feel like it's stable and I want to tell you about it. Honestly it's a bright and wonderful place to be. Julius and I like it here so far. Still we are unsure what the future holds and we take it day by day.

I ask again for input on several issues. The first of which is that I would like to ask more people to move to Ayr to help us. We have a great market economy with great deals. We do have some active farmers and most of all we have the best level zeros. They are very fun!

However I have to go to Girvan for weaving and sometimes baking. We only have one baker who works here. She travels to get flour sometimes.

Anyway we have active mines now and a very positive and welcoming community. I was successful in buying up the market from time to time to pay locals and I've just sold the fish I held to Roy.  Ssshhh. Don't tell him I told you. Honestly though if you see him please buy his fish, cuz he had the good nature to help me out.

So, why not come visit us? Why not move here and help us to rebuild this town/ county in a positive way?

To those of you that had issues with Ayr I ask that you think of the innocents here and think of the new people coming in. Think of what you would like to see happen and how future issues could be avoided. If you're here in Ayr and part of the community you could be part of the solution.

To the people that like to play Devil's Advocate I am not running for Duchess. I'm not asking for anything. I simply volunteer and go where the good people think I will fit and I'll continue to do it, even with the negative comments I've received.

Much love to you from Ayr.

Love,
Serendipity

Serendipity looked up at the sun and squinted, closing the door behind her as she left the house. A messenger walking toward her, she smiled a greeting, "G'day Mizz."The messenger smiled and handed the letter over, half chuckling and then going on her way.

" Ye . . . and a good day to you Miss." Serendipity raised an eyebrow as the courier almost skipped away. "Hhmm. What's got her so entertained?"

She went about opening the letter. It was from Alistair:

Dear Seri,

How is Ayr doing? Are you in the CC yet?

I am just writing to let you know that if you are on the Galloway Council too now, which would make it rather amusing if you were in the Ayr council too.

Alistair Campbell
Seri looked at the letter. "Gah!!" was all she could say. Then she made a rather annoyed face. The decision that she made three months ago had now come back to haunt her. She had told McMannanan that she would hold twelfth place on his council, but she had also told him about her plans to move.

"I just wouldn't want to end up on two councils at once." . . . and at the time she thought, "But what are the chances really that I would be placed on Ayr council? Pretty low really . . and what are the chances that the second HOT list will have enough people resign that I would actually serve? Pretty nill I think."

So, she walked to her office to write a letter to Mac explaining that she had never intended to be Mayor of Ayr, but that it had happened anyway. She just hoped he understood.

As she saw Julius walking into the Town Hall door, she tried not to laugh as the humor of the situation hit her. "Julius!" She caught up to him. She smiled, but said nothing and handed him the note.

Ominus is about to step through the doors of the town hall when he hears his name being called. Smiling to himself as he recognizes the sweet and feminine, yet assertive, voice of Serendipity he turns around to wait for her to reach him. Ominus smiles as she reaches him, giving her cheek a light kiss as he takes the offered note "What's this?" Seeing she doesn't seem willing to volunteer any more info he unfolds it with a laugh.

Ominus chuckles as he begins to read the letter, upon reaching the end he looks across at her face, into her beautiful eyes, "Princess, are you..?" Ominus shakes his head as he remembers how she applied to work with the Galloway council weeks ago, long before they had moved to Ayr. And then she ends up being named on both lists.

He gives her forehead a kiss as he grins "Well I can't quite say it was quite the note I expected. What are you going to do now, m'dear?"

He had sent off the letter in the middle of the night to the Captain of the Fallen Angel. Then he had abruptly hit the road for Wigtown on his way to Dumfries. Back to the familiar comfort of the Capital and it's political trappings. That had been the one and only place he ever felt at east, it was a little odd, but politics was his life blood. To the average person it might have seemed strange and incomprehensible. To Lance though, it was life, the only thing he had knows.

As he rode on towards Dumfries the visions of his past flew before him. How his family had died at Mochrum, while he was away. How he had unrelentingly sacrificed everyone and everything in his life for the thrill of politics. Constant work was the only thing that could put his demons away, being constantly busy was the only way he could avoid thinking about his past. Work coupled with laudanum was the only thing he had found to cure his ailment. Still he urged Bereg on harder . . .

Finally he arrived in Dumfries and entered the Great Hall of the Castle, where he was still welcome. The first thing he did was search the hall for still drink that he could mix with his drug.

The phrase hell hath no fury like a woman scorned had more truth to it then fiction. A lass who sacrificed everything in the name of love, for one she thought worthy of that spot in her heart was akin to not taking the tossing aside of her heart very well.

She'd waited on the deck of her ship for him. Bell had went ahead to get the children settled and Lance had assured her he would be right behind. He never showed up. The message was received that he decided after she made her way to the docks that he was not going to be coming. He enjoyed what he was doing in Scotland, and hadn't yet found the person he was willing to give that up for.

One of the clansmen had mentioned to her where Lance would be, and without a second thought, she had Jack out from the hold and was on her way to the castle.

She didn't know what to say as she arrived at the steps. The stable lad took Jack from her, and she tried hard to figure out what exactly she was going to say to him. Stabbing him came to mind, screaming, ranting, throwing things, crying...

The door of the great hall opened in front of her and she saw him. Her heart still skipping as the memories and letters came to view in her mind. Her stance wobbled slightly as she tried to force that calm, collected persona she had acquired while duchess.

Finding her voice finally, she fought to keep the hurt out of it

Think it's about time you shared that whiskey of yours... I'm in need of a drink

She waited what seemed an extraordinary long time for even the slightest acknowledgment she was in the same room as him.

The fact that he couldn't even speak to her, and tell her to her face spoke volumes. The man was a coward. Afraid to go to a new land less he not be important there, afraid that in his travels those he brags of ruling will find another, and would seem afraid to speak when he had no one standing behind him.

Her temper flashed behind her hazel eyes as she stared at him. She had hoped that there was some shred of decency in him, some hope that there would at least be an, I'm sorry Bell, but there was nothing.

Realizing that the depths he had went to use her for his own gains, shocked her. Memories flashed before her...the discussions of how he wanted them to be a power couple, rule both county and country...his turning cold when he finally realized she wanted nothing to do with council again. His child like tantrum when she voiced a different opinion then his in discussions... How affectionate and loving he was while she led the army, the hints of marriage while hoping she would attack England...all to fade when she disbanded. The signs were there, and she had ignored them in the belief that he was who he claimed in those many letters.

Reality was sinking in, and as he still stood there silently, Bella came to terms with the fact she had been played the fool. She nearly laughed at the stupidity of her actions. The selling of her home in Ireland, the thoughts of children and marriage, dear Jah did she ever fall for it. He did however confirm her stance on politics.... there was no morals in it, and tho he thumbed his nose at criminals and pirates, they were far more honorable then he.

Turning to leave, she cast him one last glance.

I do hope that those who deal with you and those who think to stand by your word will take note of how you treated one you claimed to love. Something tells me that both Fury and NNGO will take less kindly to their usage by you then I will, nor would the Duchess be pleased by the things one who was supposed to be her political partner says behind closed doors. You should thank Jah I will be setting sail Lance... I may have been tempted to think you were worth ruining had I stayed.

Walking down the steps, she took the reins from the lad and rode back to the waiting ship.

He sat there sipping his whiskey. He had written all he had to say in his letter to her, explaining the complexity of the issue best he could. He knew she was taking this hard, much like any woman would. That had always been their difference he was led by his mind, where she was led by her heart, and the two never reconciled themselves. There was no point in discussing further, it would only lead to more senseless arguments. So he sat there an let her tear into him, letting her pour out her anger before she left.

He listened to her ridicule of him, obviously talking loud enough for the entire village to hear, when he had been kind enough to quietly bring forth his issues. Apparently her style was to throw a temper tantrum in public, instead of handling this issue like adults. The exaggerations of his actions were appalling, but he chalked it up to her being scorned. She was after all Bella, Diva of Ireland, Captain of The Fallen Angels, always in control and for once the control was out of her hands. It was natural for her to act this way, to paint him out to be the bad guy, because she couldn't see for herself the short-coming on both ends. Drama, he thought to himself . . . drama is all it's ever been.

He had never once denied to her or anyone else that his pleasure in this world was politics. It seemed to him silly to give up the one thing in life that gave him pleasure anymore. The fact that his interest in politics was greater then his interest in her, only reinforced that they were not right for each other. He had tried discussing the issue with her several time. But as usual, she had not seen his point and had only berated him for being so stupid.

Daily he thought about how he might commit suicide if he was forced to live a quiet peaceful life. He knew, had he gotten on that ship, he would have jumped overboard a few days into the journey. It was not his nature, and her asking him to do that was unfair and unjust. He would have never asked her to give up her dreams. They were both on different paths on this world, he wanted to remain in politics, she wanted to go pirating . . . something which appealed little to him.

The more time he had spent with her, the more his love for her dwindled. It was naturally stronger when she first arrived and when she had been thrust into leading Galloway's army, then had diminished the past two months. The love he proclaimed at the time was sincere, it was no lie, but things change. He gave a bit of a chuckle as she continued to claim he was the reason she had come here . . . he knew that wasn't true, she had come here to help fight England. It was just convenient for her that he happened to be close by.

But yes, she had been played by him . . . he never demanded anything of her, never asked her to sell her fields, never asked her to move to Scotland, never asked her stay beyond her will in this relationship. Those feelings were obviously not reciprocated by her. He had never made promises of marriage or anything else, if she thought that was in the bargain, she was the one that had convinced herself of it.

Hearing her false threats as she turned and left he just smiled again. Go . . . go, I would not wish you back. In truth they had barely spoken to each other in two months, whatever she thought she knew was just another concoction of her rage filled mind. One last childish attempt to portray him as some evil person to the rest of Scotland. To turn his friends and allies against him, all in the name of drama. When the reality of their relationship was far from what she claimed. Besides, he was sure she'd snag some new poor fool within a week or two.

Actions speak louder then words and he knew all he had done in his life would overshadow this brief rant. Had he known her true nature and disposition five months ago, he would have gone out of his way to avoid her. It was, what it was though, he had learned a lot if nothing else. In the end, he was glad this chapter of his life was over.

October 28th
This series of declarations was met with a compliment from Tosher:
Good work, nice to see at least one County making progress.

Greetings people of Ayrshire and people of Scotland. I come to you today to make several declaratory statements regarding Ayr County. Each of these is in response to a concern of mine. All were approved by my council members.

Declaration 1: Port construction on the port of Girvan will commence soon. We will be taking it to a level 2 and then hopefully a level 3 port. I hope we will complete it in my term. Currently it is being filled with supplies. However I do not want labor being done yet. Why? See the next item.

Declaration 2: Beginning October 31st we will raise the wages in our stone mine to 16.95 pounds daily. (This mine is accessible from Largs)

We will also raise the wages in our iron mine to 16.75 pounds daily. (This mine is accessible from Ayr and Muirkirk)

Mining bonus: Every person that can present proof of mine work for 7 days will receive a free piece of bread from the county for each 7 day stint they can prove (by screenshot).

Citizens and foreign traders and workers from all over are encouraged to come visit us, occupy Ayr, Largs and Muirkirk to mine in these mines. Mayors in these towns are highly encouraged to buy all visitors beer when they see them!

These wages will continue for one month. At which time I'll do another assessment with the mine super and the TM.

Declaration 3: Effective immediately I am calling for a policy of no tolerance on market abuse cases. We will not stand for any speculation or market abuse in Ayr. Our Judge recently sentenced two people for violating our market laws. Both were citizens of our county and Serendipity was merciful. I will ask her to withhold mercy with future defendants, especially those with possible malicious intentions.

While I am not asking for trading passes, I am very serious about this. Everyone is responsible for knowing the laws of each town before they participate in trading. We will not be a dumping ground. We have stable markets and happy people. I don't want to see that disrupted.

Declaration 4: At some point during my term I will create a county army. It has been many months since we've done so and I think it's overdue. I'm not in a hurry to do this as we can't afford to buy out and run our gold mine full time yet. We will get there though. We will need an army eventually for that purpose.

We are in no way aligned with any armies now in Glasgow.

Remmi Sharpe
Duke of Ayr

Stilled:
The stone mine is also accessible from Glasgow City as well. Would you be willing to offer the same bonus to Glasgow City residents that end up working that mine?

Remmi:
Thanks Tosher. I appreciate that. I have been working very hard.

Stilled, we can't grant you if you're in Glasgow city but if you show proof you're workin' that mine and come to Largs to pick up your bonus we'll pay ya. Wink

Lord Matthew:
It appears Ayr has finally gotten an effective council, good job Remmi/other Ayrish councillors.

Ayr Festival:
Seri laughs. "Hahaha! Right now Maddog is being dunked. I wonder how long the line will get!" Razz

"You're next Rems!"

"Oh, I should mention that our eligible bachelor Remmi is manning the kissing booth as we speak. Step up lucky ladies."

Arwen:
Congratulations Remmi - it sounds like your council are getting things done this term!

I wish you all the best and many warm wishes.

If i have time Rothar, i will stop by for the festival and you can buy me an ale or three!

Remmi:
Remmi puts his hand in front of his face. "Seri... Seri, Seri."

He shakes his head. "Do you have to attempt to embarrass me at every turn?"

He turns to Matt. "Thank you Matt. I hear you're doing a great job up there in Glasgow. I hear you've been very welcoming. I think that's very important for trade and to even get some immigrants."

"Now how do we get more English speakers to move to Scotland? I'd offer more in my mines; much more, but they max out at 17 pounds!"
 He shakes his head.

"OH! I almost forgot. I need to thank Seri for bringing me an idea that she based off an idea that Rothar brought to her. Thank you both for your contribution. This is more than a regular mine lottery. I hope it resonates with people."

Oct
Roy goes to Glasgow and runs for council there (to help people out). I think he was specifically there for Angeljoy. He totally had a crush on her.

Charlotte Dahl rides aboard Rothar's ship, and lives in Glasgow:
