Lawsuit

I. Purpose of this Booklet Every crime victim has the right to file a civil lawsuit seeking financial compensation from the perpetrator or from other parties whose unreasonable conduct gave rise to conditions which allowed the crime to occur. The purpose of this handbook is to provide victims and service providers with a basic understanding of the civil justice system so that victims might consider this important option and know where to turn for help. II. Victims' Financial Losses and Potential Sources of Compensation Almost thirty million Americans are victimized by crime each year. The consequences of crime frequently extend far beyond the criminal act. All too often, victims are left with expenses for medical procedures, physical rehabilitation, counseling, lost wages, and property damage. It has been estimated that crime costs society $450 billion annually. Restitution A criminal court may order a perpetrator to reimburse certain expenses incurred by a victim, victim's sur...

Absent Texts

So, I hate blind dates enough, but when you couple that with a blind date who flaked, it just irritates me like nothing else. You know, I took time aside from my busy VLOG and retail businesses - and my Netflix drama time - to talk to you on the phone, and set up a date. My friend vetted you. I vetted you. There was a lot of vetting happening. . .  Therefore, men, you should give ample reason if you don't follow through. Also, I can also explain how you can not cancel a date on the same day that it's going to happen, but that's for another time. Anyway, so, this vetted guy talked t o me for about an hour on the phone. He seemed . .  interesting enough, and I thought that I was really bringing my A game, but maybe not? Maybe he was intimidated? I have no idea. Anyway, we were going to do lunch the next day, and come the next day I get no text. We spoke about maybe wine tasting, so I texted him around 12:30. "I haven't heard from you. Did you still want to go w...

The lie

Lies are the single most destructive force on this planet. There is nothing that can delve so deep inside your psyche, pull out your insecurities and then beat you senseless with them. The beating can be pretty merciless if you are left without support or coping strategies. Even with both sometimes you don't recover without an apology. One thing is for sure. The longer you have to stew on a lie, the more it digs in.  The pain can feel like the worst betrayal you've ever felt. People can take away your bed and clothing, starve you, beat you and still nothing might ever be as painful as a lie. The lie that a man thinks is docile, innocent and white, could sometimes turn out to be the biggest black hole that he's ever experienced. You know the saying: There is no wrath like a woman scorned. Why? Because he lied to her, and cheated on her.  It is a double betrayal. Think about all the lies that he had to tell in order to cheat on her with a mistress. It is unfathomable the de...

Men

What this world need more of is mature men. Men who can speak to women honestly. I understand that everyone has insecurities. I know that they sometimes work against you.  If you are dating someone though, you need for them to be able to talk to you. If they can't talk to you, and if you don't understand each other, life is a constant struggle with them. Having a relationship will be nearly impossible.

Fi

Fi was traveling alone, on a deserted road. She was unsure, why she was even here. The tournament had been a great time, and then not. It just had it's moments.  She wasn't sure if she needed to stay that extra day. She just did, for whatever reason, staying after her companions had left. She enjoyed the trip, even though she didn't know her traveling companions that well. So, here she was in the "Badlands" or the beach portion of them anyway. It didn't look so "bad". Why were they called "bad" anyway? The land was beautiful, and very green this time of year. She sat on the beach and pulled out her things. She wrote a letter to the man she missed back in town. She was careful not to put his name down. Another women he was courting was rumored to be a murdering harlot. Fi did not need the trouble, so she wrote in code. If it got to him, he would know who it was to and who it was from. No one wrote like this in her town. She chuckled. ...

Scarlette Chap 1

The wind in Dumfries was legendary. Scarlette was born on a windy night in Galloway. Her red hair glowed so brightly that her mother gasps at her newborn babe. And once taking her into her arms, she exclaimed: Scarlette. She should be Scarlette. Nickolaus looked at his loving wife and agreed. They pushed aside all the other name choices they had considered. Her father was a miller and her mother owned a loom. Her entire life was focused on weaving, but she sought another future for herself. Weaving was in her blood but while she grew to enjoy all facets of art, she also grew in popularity in her town. Before the age of sixteen, she was already on the town council and mentoring young people. Her specialties were art, history and of course weaving. She also enjoyed an odd adventure or two. She loved to explore the forest with her friends. She was an excellent swimmer, despite the cold ocean waters of Scotland. Her best friend was a young lady with the very original name of Serendip...

Quinn Chapter 1

Image
She opened the leather book. It's binding was impressive. The gilding very nice. She'd never spent so much money on a book before, especially on an empty one. She glared at the inside cover. The first page was asking for a title. She considered all the puns available in her repertoire.  QWIN? No. God save the Quinn. Ha! No. Quintessential Quinn. Quinntakill.  She laughed hard.  Good one, but weird. I'm not exactly on the most wanted list. Harlequinn. Quinnpossible. Born to Quinn. PenQuinn.  In her head she saw an idea for a penguin drawing.    None of them seemed right. She penned in a nice calligraphy:  Quinn  in the top corner and then began to draw her own likeness. This is where she would start.  ------------------- She opened her journal and stared at the drawing.  I guess I was feeling feminine that day , she thought to herself. She shrugged.  All it needs is a sword on my back and some boots that I could actually ...
