VegetableCart

The ride would be long, but his beloved steed made it easy enough. As they reached a fork in the road, he saw a family traveling. The man was leading a horse and vegetable cart. It was loaded high with his crops. Two children were walking alongside him, and sitting in the rear of the cart, a woman sat holding a small toddler, who looked to be sleeping. Caspian didn't think too often about peasants who had to walk to get their goods to market, or travel to meet family. Honestly, he didn't think that often about anyone or anything that didn't directly affect his life. Shadiel waved at the family and smiled. Caspian was surprised when she dismounted her horse. He promptly signaled the party to stop when she did so. Shadiel opened her saddlebag and found a cacophony of items. She pulled out an old pair of shoes; a bag of bread and half a wheel of cheese. "This cheese was presented to me at the castle. It is a very fine goat cheese, and it's imported from Amalette. ...

Serendipity Chapter 1

Chapter 1 Serendipity grew up in a small town in the south of Scotland. When she wasn't picking flowers, or chasing sheep, she was seeking out new adventures with her school friends. She loved to create picnics in the back yard of her father's estate. There was a small clearing surrounded by trees that had always been her favorite. When she was very young, she had placed three stools in the center of the clearing on a small rug. Then she placed dolls, and animals around it to create her own fancy tea parties.   These days she had layered a couple more rugs to make the area more cozy for lounging. She had even brought a few pillows to lean on while she wrote in her journal. Today she wrote:  The hills are covered with tall grass this time of year. All the sheep look like they have absolutely no legs at all. They are just puffy clouds floating up and down the hill. This is extremely entertaining to me. - Seri She rarely wrote in her journal. As she grew older she found sh...

Caspian Meets Farmer

The brisk scent of pine wafted through the valley. Caspian was enjoying their day. The ride would be long, but his beloved steed made it easy enough. As they reached a fork in the road, he saw a family traveling. The man was leading a horse, and a vegetable cart. Two children were walking beside him, and in the very rear of the cart was a woman holding a sleeping toddler. Caspian didn't think too often about peasants who had to walk to get their goods to the market. Honestly, he didn't think that often about anyone or anything that didn't directly affect him. Caspian thought to himself that this was something about himself that he needed to change. Shadiel waved at the family and smiled. Caspian was surprised when she dismounted her horse. He promptly signaled his party to stop when she did so. The farmer also stopped his cart, curious about who these nobles might be, and what they would need from him. Shadiel opened her saddlebag and found a cacophony of items. Among t...

Braith Part 1

Braith woke up on the cold, wet ground. It was still dark, but the sun was coming up, and basking everything in a surreal glow. A dark liquid was slowly dripping onto the ground in front of him. The sound of the drop echoed. All else was quiet. His forehead wrinkled as his mind attempted to put his memories back together. He reached a hand out to touch the liquid, and the triangle-shape that it was coming from. It was soft and cold. The blood-soaked cloth was a tablecloth. He shuttered and stifled a whimper of anguish. The memories were slowly coming back to him. The battle is over. Emotions washed over him, as his body instinctively began to curl. Pain shot through his body as he realized that his hands, arms, and especially his shoulder were injured. He put his hand on his shoulder, and connected with his body's pain. He didn't think his bones were broken, but maybe his spirit would be. He tried to roll onto his left side, in order to get up. While perfectly functional, his ...
